'Sea Isle'

This perennial forms a compact spreading habit and is more cold tolerant than the species.

Weed Potential
As a weedPaspalum is extremely tenacious tolerating dry conditions but grows best in moist fertile soils in regions that receive ample rain during summer, maturing in 2 to 3 years. It is commonly found in disturbed soils forming a cover that inhibits the regrowth of indigenous flora.

It is dispersed by seed that is attached to clothing or shoes and by water. It may also be transported in garden waste and the rhizomes are carried on machinery or in soil.

Control methodsinclude physically digging out small patches including their rhizomes and or bagging seed heads. The plant may also be treated with a non-selective herbicide using wick-wipers in sensitive areas. Follow up control will be required and a strict hygiene regime is required as the sticky seeds quickly attach to clothing.
