Cultivars
'Cassica'(R)
This tufted perennial grows to 1m (3ft) tall with broad blue-green sword-shaped leaves. During early spring it produces yellowish flower heads amongst the foliage and the plant is grown along borders or in containers.
It is suitable for coastal regions demanding a well drained sandy soli in an open sunny position and is very drought tolerant. It has a low water requirement once established. (Scale: 1-drop from 3)
'Katrinus Deluxe', 'Katrinus'(R)
This is a clump forming grass-like perennial is evergreen with fine weeping foliage. It produces large fragrant male flowers during spring and the plant is used in borders or planted in containers. This plant is tough tolerating drought, frost, open positions, full sun to a shaded position.
It will also grow in heavy clay to sandy soil types and is used in commercial sites or in street plantings. It has a low water requirement once established. (Scale: 1-drop from 3)
'Seascape'
This non invasive cultivar is derived from Lomandra confertifolia and forms clumps of grey-green slender linear foliage with a graceful weeping habit. It grows to 500mm (20in) tall by 750mm (30in) wide and produces small yellow fragrant flowers during summer.
It tolerates full sun to semi shade on well drained moderately fertile soils and is frost, salt spray and drought tolerant. It is planted in garden borders, containers and rockeries and has a low water requirement once established. (Scale: 1-drop from 3)
'Stanthorpe'
This very hardy grass-like perennial grows to 700mm (28in) tall and forms clumps up to 600mm (24in) wide. It produces slender mid green leaves and yellow-burgundy flowers that are arranged in spikes appearing from spring to summer.
It prefers a full sun to semi-shaded position on the coast or inland and is used in containers or rockeries and for border planting. It has a low water requirement once established.
'Tanika'(R)
This plant is simular to the species growing to 600mm (2ft) tall and wide but has softer finer textured deep green foliage. During early spring a yellowish flower head appears and the plant is used in patio pots or along borders.
It is excellent for mass planting along roadways or other public areas as it is low growing and only requires a trim every 3 to 4 years. It tolerates heavy clay to well drained sandy soils that are moderately fertile and is commonly used by landscapers. It has a low water requirement once established and is drought and frost tolerant.
