Some of the following cultivars may only be found in New Zealand, USA or Great Britain.
'Admirabilis'
This male plant produces only juvenile foliage that is upward pointing along the flat branches that spread to 3m (10ft) wide.
'Bar Harbor'
This vigorous spreading shrub has a prostrate habit with grey-green foliage that turns mauve during winter.
'Blue Chip'
This small shrub has blue-green through the year and is used for colour contrast.
'Blue Forest'
This upright spreading shrub has blue-green foliage that turns reddish during winter. It is suitable for small gardens or used as a rockery specimen. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions and is very frost tolerant.
'Blue Rug'
This prostrate conifer grows up to 2 m (6 ft) wide with attractive blue green foliage forming a thick compact habit. It grows in full sun to semi shade, on most well drained moderately fertile moist soils and is frost tolerant once established.
It is planted on embankments or mass planted as a ground cover under deciduous trees or used in rockeries as a specimen. Once established, it tolerates a light prune, but avoid cutting into old wood.
'Douglasii' Waukegan Juniper
This conifer originates from the west coast of North America and forms a prostrate shrub that is up to 1.5 m (5 ft) high by 2 m (6 ft) wide. It produces awl-like juvenile foliage up to 6 mm (¥ in) long and adult scale-like grey green foliage up to 5 mm (?in)long that turns purplish towards the tips during winter.
It is a slow growing conifer, but long-lived and prefers an open sunny position tolerating short period drought and mild frost. It is suitable for coastal regions and grows on sandy to clay loams that are moderately well drained.
It is used as a ground cover in parks and gardens or for foliage contrast and can be planted on embankments as a spillover. It is also grown in containers and used in formal conifer gardens.
'Glauca'
This prostrate shrub has spreading branches with blue-green foliage.
'Glomerata'
This slow growing coniferous shrub has an upward pointing tufted habit with green foliage.
'Hughes'
This prostrate shrub has spreading and ascending branches to 3m (10ft) with pale blue-green leaves and is used as a ground cover in large garden beds.
'Lividus'
This slow growing shrub has grey-green small juvenile foliage only.
'Plumosa'
The leaves on this plant are blue-grey and turn deep purple during winter. This plant forms a star shaped habit with ascending branches.
'Procumbens'
This slow growing prostrate shrub is up to 3m (10ft) wide and is used as ground cover.
'Pulchella'
This hardy slow growing prostrate shrub has grey-green foliage on upstanding branches.
'Wiltonii'
This shrub has trailing branches with bluish foliage.
'Variegata'
This prostrate shrub has blue-grey green foliage that is tipped yellow. It is used in parks and gardens as a ground cover and tolerates cold conditions.
