Cultivars
'Castlewellan Gold'
This vigorous evergreen conifer grows to 7 m (21ft) tall by 3 m (10 ft) wide forming a dense conical habit. It has bright golden yellow foliage that tolerates exposed coastal positions.

It grows in most well drained fertile moist soils and a full sun to semi shaded position, and tolerates frost or dry periods, once established. It is planted in parks and gardens along borders for screening and may be trim to form a hedge. It is also used as a wind break or as a specimen tree for foliage colour contrast.
