The shrub is upright or of Woody stems forming a rounded habit and has glossy green leaves and produces white flowers during spring.

Cultivars
'Cardwell' and 'Cardwell Pink'
This vigorous shrub has upright arching branches to 2m (6ft) tall by 1.5m (5ft) wide with soft light green leaves. 'Cardwell' produces white flowers during spring and 'Cardwell Pink'produces masses of two toned pink flowers in spring. They prefer an open sunny position with well drained moderately fertile moist soils, but are drought tolerant.

They are used for screening and respond to pruning after flowering to form an informal hedge. It has a low water requirement once established (Scale: 1-drop from 3) and responds to mulching and an occasional watering during dry periods.

'Fireball'
This small shrub grows to 1m (3ft) tall and wide and has deep burgundy-red new growth (the feature of the plant). It produces small white flowers during spring and the plant is suitable for exposed coastal positions.

It grows in full sun on well drained sandy to clay loams that are moderately fertile and is frost and drought tolerant. It is planted as a colourful border or used in a container and has a low water requirement once established. (Scale: 1-drop from 3)

'Pacific Beauty'
This plant is low growing with pendulous branches and flowers heavily with pink buds becoming white flowers. It tolerates most soil types and is resistant to salt spray and light frost.

'Pink Cascade'

This small shrub grows to a height of 500 mm (20 in) by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide with a semi-prostrate habit. The new growth is reddish and the plant produces two toned pink flowers during spring, and again in autumn.

'Tickled Pink'
This shrub has an upright habit to 2m (6ft) tall and produces vibrant pink flowers during spring. It is used as a screen plant or trimmed to form a hedge in small gardens or parks and is bird attracting.

It grows on most well drained moderately fertile soils in a full sun to semi shaded position and is frost and drought tolerant. It has a low water requirement once established (Scale: 1-drop from 3) responds to mulching and an occasional watering during dry periods.
