Cultivars
There are a very large number of cultivars some are listed below and generally they form a rounded habit and prefer a shaded, moist wind protected position.

Lacecaps Types
This group of plants produce terminal inflorescence that a flattish. Flowers are arranged around the border sterile and consist of four petal-like sepals and are up to 50 mm (2 in) wide. The small flowers that are arranged in the centre are fertile.

'Bluesky'
This plant has blue and white flowers.

'Geoffory Chadbund'
The flowers on this plant are rich red.

'Libelle'
This plant has large white flowers.

'Lilacina'
The flowers are pink colour.

'Shower'
This plant has hot pink blooms.

'Sunset'
This plant has rich pinkish scarlet blooms.

'Taube'
The flower colour is soft pink.

'Veitchi'
The flowers on this plant open white but as they age they turn soft pink.

Hortensia Types
Flowers in this group are arranged in a large rounded terminal inflorescence. The flowers consist of four petals like sepals and are up to 50 mm (2 in) wide. All flowers are sterile and the petals margin varies from entire to serrated or cupped depending on the cultivar.

'Altona'
The flowers are deep pink to purplish blue.

'Ceneraole'
The flowers on this plant are pink or pale blues.

'Sir Joseph Banks'
The flowers are pink colour.

'Tricolour'
This plant has variegated foliage.
