Cultivars
'Aurea' Golden Elder
This deciduous shrub grows to 4 m (12 ft) tall and wide forming a rounded bushy habit. It has yellowish green pinnate leaves and the small white flowers appear in clusters during summer. It is ideal to colour contrast along shrub borders and tolerates most well-drained moderately fertile moist soils.
'Black Lace'PBR
This shrub grows to 3 m (10 ft) tall and wide with multiple stems that form a rounded habit. The finely cut pinnate leaves are burgundy black which is an attractive feature of plant. The flattish umbles of pink flowers are up to 150 mm (6 in) wide appearing during spring followed by purplish black berries. It tolerates most soils and an opened sunny position and may be pruned heavily when required.
'Purpurea'
This deciduous shrub grows to 3 m (10 ft) tall and wide forming a compact rounded habit. It has deep purplish pinnate leaves and the whitish flowers appear in clusters followed by black issue berry-like fruit.
