Propagation
Surface so fresh seed during spring in flats and prick out when large enough to handle. Pot up and grow on for one season.

Soft tip cuttings taken during spring and place in a well-drained media in a protected environment.

Botanic information

Leaf: The glossy dark green oval to oblong or obovate leathery leaves have an obtuse apex and a short whitish petiole. The upper surface is dotted in glands and the scaly underside is pale brown to silver. The leaves are arranged alternately along the slender brownish branchlets.

Flower: The pendent tubular to campanulate (bell-shaped) flowers have 5-sepals and 5-brilliant red petals that are tipped in yellow-green with 5-excerted yellow stamens. The flowers appear solitary in the leaf axils on a slender pedestal from a winter to spring and sporadically throughout the year. The flowers are pollinated by honey-eating birds.

Fruit: The small dehiscent capsule contains very small seeds thatare viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
