Propagation
Sow fresh seed singularly in a pot during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green flat linear to lanceolate leaves are up to 200 mm (7µ in) long by 7 mm (¥ in) wide with prominent longitudinal veins on the upper and lower surfaces. The margins are entire and the apex is acute.
Flower: The small cream to orange pink tubular flowers have an exserted cream pistil up to 16 mm (? in) long and there are 50 to 80 flowers arranged in an axillary umbiliform raceme. They appear crowded along the stems from autumn to winter and are hidden by the foliage.
Fruit: The reddish-brown obliquely elliptical woody follicle is up to 25 mm (1 in) long by 12 mm (½ in) wide and is slightly beaked. There are up 1-9 arranged in a cluster per axle on a short peduncle. The obliquely elliptical blackish brown seeds are up to 14 mm (? in) long by 7 mm (¥ in) wide and have a wing down both sides of the body.
