Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in a well-drained media. The seeds require the standard peeling treatment prior to sowing.

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer should be placed in a dryer less humid protected environment. Avoid misting benches and bottom heat.

Grafted varieties are available for humid summer regions.

Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green sessile palmate leaves have 3-9 lobes and clasp the stem and are up to 18mm (? in) wide. The triangular lobes have a pungent apex and the margins are recurved to revolute. The upper surface is pilose with an obscure midvein and the undersigned is glabrous or pilose with prominent raised veins. The new growth has a velvety-red appearance and is a feature of the plant.

Flower: The small tubulate flowers have red oblong-ovoid perianth segments that are up to 10mm (? in) long by 5 mm (? in) wide and a protruding pale pink pistil to 20mm (µin) long. There are 3-6 flowers arranged in a sessile terminal, umbel-like cluster on pedicles that are up to 10 mm (? in) long. The conflorescence is accompanied by triangular papery bracts up to 4 mm (? in) long. The flowers open from autumn to winter or from spring to early summer.

Fruit: The erect brown oblong-ellipsoidal follicle is up to 7 mm (¥ in) wide. It contains glabrous ellipsoidal seeds that are up to 4 mm (? in) wide and are surrounded by a broad waxy or papery wing.
