Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in flats during spring and slightly cover and keep moist. Maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F) and prick out when large enough to handle and pot-up into tubes.

Leaf: The reduced scale leaves are arranged in whorls of 5 to 7 teeth around at the joints on the branchlets (cladodes).

Flower: The reddish-brown male flower is a catkin-like spike that is up to 18 mm (? in) long and appears in spike.The reddish female flower has no perianth segments and has of 2-fused carpels. The shrub is dioecious or monoecious and the flowers appear from winter to spring.

Fruit: The small cylindrical cone is up to 22 mm (µ in) long by 17 mm (? in) in diameter with a short stalk. The dark shinny seeds have a long viability period and is spread by birds or dispersed by gravity. The seeds germinate after fire or disturbance.
