Sow Fresh seeds in flats with a very well-drained media. Germination is sporadic and difficult to initiate.
Tip cuttings taken during early summer and place in a very well-drained media in a protected environment, avoid misting.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile grey green densely pubescent elliptical leaves are up to 40 mm (1? in) long and have an acute apex. The margins are recurred and the underside has a prominent mid-rib. They are arranged oppositely on densely pubescent branchlets and are upright first.
Flower: The small purplish funnelform flowers are up to 5 mm (? in) wide and the calyx is obscure by dense greyish hairs. The corolla is united and the stamens are attached to the outer rim. The flowers are arranged in a densely woolly terminals spike that is up to 100 mm (4 in) long and accompanied by narrow ovate bracts are densely woolly. The flowers appear from winter to spring.
Fruit: The small fruit contains tiny dark seeds but is not commonly seen. Only a small percentage of the seeds are viable and are difficult to germinate. The plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively with difficulty.
