Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle then grow on before planting out.
Note:Eucalyptusand Corymbiaspecies are fast-growing and should be planted when the young in order to establish a strong root system.
This tree is resistant to low intensity fire and will re-shoot from the lignotuber and disbursed seeds will also germinate.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery glossy dark green lanceolate adult leaves are up to 25 mm (1 in) wide and become falcate with age and are concolorous. The apex is acuminate and the base is cuneate with a short yellowish green petiole.
Flower: There are 3 broadly ovoid to diamond-shaped sessile buds with a conical to rounded operculum and have a flattened peduncle that is up to 35 mm (1? in) long. The flowers open with numerous exserted white stamens and are arranged in a small axillary cluster that appears from early spring to summer.
Fruit: The greyish brown capsule as a down-turned pedestal and is broadly obconical up to 50 mm (2 in) wide and has slight ribs. The disc is raised and lobed over the 5-7 valves and the small blackish-brown pyramidal seeds are up to 6 mm (¥ in) long with a smooth surface.
