Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in flats at a depth of 14 mm (? in) and cover with a layer of sand to 7 mm (¥ in) thick and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle. Germination may take up to 12 months and the seedlings are very slow to grow.
Transplant young plants or germinated seedlings into a deep pot or a prepared bed.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green linear leaves are up to 750 mm (30 in) long 3 mm (1/8in) wide and are quadrangular in cross section. The texture is stiff leathery and the leaves are arranged in a radiating rosette at the top of the trunk and become drooping with age forming a skirt around the trunk.

Flower: The tiny creamy white stellate (star-shaped) flowers are arranged densely in a upright ridged spike with greenish floral bracts and is held high above the foliage on a scape up to 2.5 m (8 ft) tall. The flowering period may vary depending on bush fires, but generally they appear from winter to summer.

Fruit: The small fruit is a leathery 3-valved loculicidal capsule that contains flat dull black seeds that have endosperm. The seeds are viable but the plant is commonly transplanted as a mature specimen.
