Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Germination commences in 6-8 days.

Botanic information
Leaf: The variable thin textured glossy bright green ovate to lanceolate adult leaves are up to 150 mm long and may have 3-5 lobes. The apex is acuminate in the yellowish green petiole is up to 100 mm (4 in) long.

Flower: The waxy 5-lobed apetalous campanulate (bell-shaped) flowers are cream coloured outside and flecked with red on the inside. They are arranged in a axillary panicle amongst the foliage and appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The glabrous brown woody boat-shaped follicles up to 200 mm (7µ in) long and there are up to 5-follicles produced from each flower. The bright yellow oval edible seeds are arranged in a single layer and are surrounded by numerous bristles that can irritate human skin.
