Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in flats during spring and slightly cover and keep moist. Maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F) and prick out when large enough to handle and pot-up into tubes.
Botanic information
Leaf: The reduced scale leaves are arranged in whorls of 6 to 8 teeth around at the joints on the branchlets (cladodes).
Flower: The light brown male flower is a catkin-like spike that is up to 130 mm (5? in) long and appears in pendent clusters.The female flower has no perianth segments and consists of 2-fused carpels. The shrub is dioecious and the flowers appear from late winter to spring.
Fruit: The sessile woody textured cone-like fruit contains numerous capsules and has no stalk.
