Sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media with the wing are facing upwards and maintain a temperature of 10º to 13º C. (50º to 55º F).
Botanic information
Leaf: The thick leathery almost sessile lanceolate to elliptical adult leaves up to 90 mm (3½ in) long by 12 mm (½ in) wide and are dark green above and pale green underneath. The oppositely arranged lanceolate juvenile leaves have a short wide petiole.
Flower: The cylindrical male pollen cone is up to 30mm (1? in) long and have a pedestal up to 12 mm (½ in) long and the globular female seed cones are globular and up to 150 mm (6 in) long by 120 mm (4µ in) wide with broadly rounded scales. They appear from spring to early summer or sporadically throughout the year in tropical climates.
Fruit: The brown globular cones are up 150 mm (6 in) long by 120 mm (4µ in) wide and have broad rounded scales that contain narrow seeds with an oblique wing and one small acute wing. When ripe the cone disintegrates releasing the seeds which are dispersed by wind.
