Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.

Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy deep green thin textured elliptical leaves are up to 150 mm long (6 in) with an acuminate apex and the upper surface has pale green deeply depressed veins. The petiole is short and the leaves are arranged oppositely along the woody stems.

Flower: The deep red tubulate flowers are up to 20 mm (µ in) long and have a long tube and spreading twisted lobes with a yellow throat and exserted stamens with yellow anthers. The flowers are arranged in an Axillary spike that is accompanied by persistent leafy scarlet-red bracts. They appear throughout the year in tropical regions and a long lasting.

Fruit: Thesmall loculicidal capsule contains numerous seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
