Sow fresh seed during spring In a well drained media and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer. The cuttings may be difficult to strike.
Botanic information
Leaf: The elliptical leaves are up to 130 mm (5? in) long by 75 mm (3 in) wide and are dull green on the underside and dark glossy green to grey green on the upper surface with curved lateral veins. The petiole is short and the apex is shortly acuminate. They are arranged oppositely along with the scaly branchlets.
Note:
The tree is deciduous during the dry season / late winter and the leaves are colourful before falling.
Flower: The crateriform flowers have 6-ribbed valvate sepals to 4 mm (? in) long and 6-expanding rounded petals with undulating margins that are up to 15 mm (? in) long and have a central boss of around 100 stamens with yellow anthers. The long curved style is reddish and the flowers are arranged in a terminal or axillary panicle that appears along the branchlets during summer. The flowering period in tropical regions may vary.
Fruit: The reddish-brown dehiscent capsule is up to 20 mm (µ in)long and contains up to 100 winged seeds that are 5 mm (? in)long. The seeds are viable and germinate readily but the plant can be reproduced vegetatively with some difficulty.
