Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle then grow on before planting out.
Note:Eucalyptusand Corymbiaspecies are fast-growing and should be planted when the young in order to establish a strong root system.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull grey green broad-lanceolate to falcate intermediate leaves have a short petiole. The lanceolate to falcate thin textured semi-glossy green adult leaves are up to 30 mm (1? in)wide and have an acute apex. The narrow flattened or channelled yellowish petiole is up to 20 mm (µ in) long.
Flower: The ovoid to calvate (club-shape) buttons are up to 6 mm (¥ in) long by 4 mm (? in) in diameter. The operculum is hemispherical and narrower than the smooth hypanthium and the pedestal is up to 6 mm long. There are 11 or more, white to cream flowers arranged in an umbel that appears from winter to spring.
Fruit: The hemispherical to pyriform woody capsule is up to 7 mm (¥ in) long and wide with a raised or flattened disc and the valves are enclosed. Each capsule contains numerous tiny brown seeds.
