Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer. Apply bottom heat.

Botanic information
Leaf: The thin textured dull green ovate leaves up to 100 mm (4in) long and have a cordate base with a short petiole and an acuminate apex. The upper surface has prominent veins and the margins are serrated.

Flower: The pendant tubular flowers have a scarlet to red calyx tube with pointed green tipped sepals and the green petals are up to 9 mm (? in) long with 8-exserted stamens that have the yellow anthers. They appear singularly from the leaf axils during summer and sporadically throughout the year.

Fruit: The elongated juicy berries are up to 40mm (1? in) long by 8 mm (¥ in) wide and contain small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively. The fruit is tart with a peppery taste.
