Propagation
Stratify seeds for 1 month during winter in peat at a temperature of 1.1º to 5º C. (34º to 41º F). Sow seeds in pots then place them in a cold frame to germinate or sow directly in situ.

Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened linear leaves are up to 2 mm wide with an acute to acuminate apex that may be notched and they are arranged at right angles densely on the upper stem. The upper surface is dark green and the underside has 2-greyish-green stomatic bands.

Flower: The small male cones are green and the upright greenish female cones become yellowish-brown as they mature.

Fruit: The sub sessile yellowish brown female cones are cylindrical up to 140 mm (5½ in)long by 40 mm (1? in) wide with a blunt rounded apex. The bracts cuneate-obovate with an acute apex and the seeds are obtriangular up to 9 mm long with a wedge shaped wing up to 15 mm (? in) long. The seeds are disbursed once the cone disintegrates on maturity.
Seeds should be collected once the cone has dried on the plant before it disintegrates.
