Propagation
Stratify seeds for 2 to 3 months during winter in peat at a temperature of 1.1º to 5º C. (34º to 41º F). Sow seeds in pots then place them in a cold frame to germinate.

Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy bright green leaves have 2-3 short somatic bands above and 6-7 whitish stomatic bands below. They are spreading and pointing forward along the reddish brown branchlets in 2-ranks forming a 'V' shape.

Flower: The small purplish male cones are pendant, appearing during early spring and the female cones are reddish brown.

Fruit: The cylindrical female cone is up to 60 mm (2? in)wide with a bluntly pointed apex and fan-shaped scales. The bracts are hidden with a mucronate apex and the reddish-brown seeds have an obovate wing up to 20 mm (µ in)long.
