Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in a well-drained media. The seeds require the standard peeling treatment prior to sowing and normally germinate within one month.
Semi hardwood cuttings taken throughout the year and should be placed in a dryer less humid protected environment.
This shrub has been successfully grafted on to Grevillea robusta.
Botanic information
Leaf: The variable glabrous grey green stiff-leathery sessile leaves are obovate-cuneate in outline and is up to 180 mm (7 in) long by 60 mm (2? in) wide. The flat leaves vary from simple to tripartite with the triangular to linear lobes up to 30 mm (1? in) long and may be divided again. The apex is acute with a pungent tip and the entire margins may be recurved.
Flower: The small tubulate flowers have a pedestal up to 3 mm (? in)long and the oblong- cylindrical creamy white curled perianth segments are up to 3 mm (? in) long witha protruding yellow pistil to 6 mm (¥ in) long with a conical pollen presenter. The flowers are arranged in an erect cylindrical terminal or axillary, raceme that is up to 60 mm (2? in) long and are accompanied by obovate to linear bracts up to 1.2 mmlong. The flowers appear from a winter to early spring and are pollinated by insects.
Fruit: The ellipsoidal to obovate follicle is up to 12 mm (½ in) long by 9 mm (? in) wide with a glabrous pericarp. The flat obovoid seeds have a strongly convex outer face and are up to 7 mm (¥ in) long by 4 mm (? in) wide with a waxy raised border. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
