Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. Seeds may require soaking over night.
This plant is difficult to transplant as it has a fine root system.

Botanic information
Leaf: The variable light to dark green leather textured sessile leaves are obovate to narrow elliptical or lanceolate and have an acute apex and a cuneate base. They are arranged alternately along the reddish branchlets.

Flower: The small sessile pink-mauve slender tubulate flowers are arranged in a terminal globular spike that is up to 80mm (3? in) wide and have a hard central cone that is up to 50 mm (2 in) in diameter. The flowers appear profusely over the plant from spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small nut-like achene is covered in silky hairs and enclosed in persistent bracts that are shed when ripe. The seeds are viable but germinate slowly and the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
