Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle then grow on before planting out.
Note:Eucalyptusand Corymbiaspecies are fast-growing and should be planted when the young in order to establish a strong root system.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bluish green concolorous intermediate leaves are ovate and are up to 90 mm (3½ in)long by 50 mm (2 in) wide. The ovate to elliptical or broad-lanceolate leathery adult leaves are up to 35 mm (1? in) wide and have a long reddish petiole. The colour varies from blue-green to blue-grey and they are concolorous.
Flower: The ovoid to calvate (club-shape) buds are up to 6 mm (¥ in) long by 4 mm (? in) wide with a conical operculum and the hypanthium has faint ribs. There are 7-white flowers with angular pedestals that appear in an axillary or terminal panicle that has a terete peduncle up to 15 mm (? in) long from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The dark brown hemispherical to pyriform woody capsules have a short pedestal and a broad descending disk with the valves enclosed. They contain numerous tiny viable seeds.
