Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green elliptical to broad oblanceolate leaves are up to 90mm (3½ in) wide and have a velvety underside. The apex is obtused and the texture is thin-leathery. The petiole is sheathed and can be expanded to appear wing-like.

Flower: The small greenish apetalous bisexual flowers are arranged in a spadix that is enclosed in a greenish-white ovate spathe that is up to 76mm (3in) long. In tropical climates they appear throughout the year but generally from spring to summer.

Fruit: The tiny berry contains small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively. If ingested it may cause stomach upset and contact with the sap may cause skin irritation.
