Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Divide established clumps after flowering in spring or in late summer.

Botanic information
Leaf: The soft leathery textured broad ovate leaves are up to 400 mm (14 in) long by 230 mm (9 in) wide and had an acuminate apex and a cordate base. The upper surfaces glossy green and may have some pale green markings and the underside is pale green with reddish veins. The fleshy purplish-red petiole is up to 457 mm (18 in) long and is sheaved at the base.

Flower: The small flowers have a calyx that is deeply 5-parted and contains 8-stamens and 3-stigmas. They are arranged in a small sessile cluster In a spadix that is accompanied by a red cylindrical spathe that is up to 88 mm (3½ in) longand appears during late spring or throughout the year in tropical regions.

Fruit: The smooth triangular achenes are enclosed by an enlarged deep red or purplish calyx. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
