Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Division of the rhizome during spring to summer or after flowering or in autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green lanceolate leaves are up to 45mm (1µ in) wide with a nodding acuminate apex. They are arranged alternately in 2-ranks and the base clasps the fleshy stem.
Flower: The small white crateriform flowers have 6-spreading perianth segments and 3-excerted stamens with yellow anthers. They are arranged in a upright terminal panicle that is up to 300mm (1 ft) long by 127 mm (5 in) wide and appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The globular yellow berry matures to red than black and contains numerous small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
