Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in situ or in flats and pick out when large enough to handle. Plant out 150 mm (6 in) spacing during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The silvery grey-green leaves are pinnately lobed with serrated pubescent margins. Both surfaces are densely covered in long stiff white hairs and the petiole is long.
Flower: The crimson to orange funnelform (poppy-like) flowers has 2-sepals, 4-petals that are up to 30 mm (1? in) long and are normally marked with a black spot at the base and are readily shed. They are solitary and appear amongst the foliage from summer to early autumn.
Fruit: The pubescent elongated capsule is up to 250 mm (9µ in) long and contains numerous tiny viable seeds.
