Sow fresh seeds in situ after frosts have passed during late winter. When planting out seedlings 150 to 220 mm (8? in)apart.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are lanceolate to ovate with an entire to serrated margin and an acute apex. The upper leaves are sessile and the lower leaves have a short petiole. The leaf base is cordate and the colour varies from mid-green to purplish green.

Flower: The bisexual 2-Lipped labiate flowers have acute reddish calyx lobes and the upper lip is white to lavender with a dark violet tip and the lower lip is whitish to rose-purple, with the spur curved into a pouch. They have a short pedestal and are arranged in a whorled raceme that it is held above the foliage on a leafy scape during summer.

Fruit: The ovoid loculicidal capsule has 2-valves and contains numerous oblong seeds.
