Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in situ at 300 mm (1 ft) spacings. Autumn sowings should be placed in a protected environment until spring.
Care should be taken when planting out not to disturb the roots as the plant dislikes transplanting.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green sessile linear to lanceolate leaves have an acute apex and are variable in size.
Flower: The crateriform flower have 4- greenish sepals up to 25 mm (1 in) long and 4-lobed petals up to 30 mm (1? in) long. The distinct pistil has the appearance of a multi-petalled flower in the centre of the bloom and is accompanied by 4-purplish pink stamens. They are arranged in a short spike that appears during spring.
Fruit: The tiny capsule is club-shaped to cylindrical and contains numerous small seeds that are viable in the plant commonly self-sows.
