Propagation
Sow seed in situ in a prepared bed 4-6 weeks before the last spring frosts. Keep moist and thin to a spacing of 300 mm (1 ft).
Botanic information
Leaf: The bristly mid green oblanceolate to obovate leaves are up to 25 mm (1 in) long with an obtuse apex and a short petiole. There are 8-leaves arranged in a whorl along the reddish stems and the upper surface has a prominent mid rib.
Flower: The bright blue to white sweetly scented tubular flowers are up to 10 mm (? in) long with 4-expanding ovate petals and a yellow centre. They are arranged in a rounded terminal cyme that is accompanied with leafy bracts and appear high above the foliage on a slender scape during summer.
Fruit: The tiny berries contain numerous viable seeds that self sow readily. The seeds should be collected once the fruit has dried on the plant.
