Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in flats and prick out when large enough to handle.
Divide the rhizome during winter and replant at a depth of 50 mm (2in). This form of propagation should be carried out only when necessary, as the plant dislikes root disturbance.
Botanic information
Leaf: The slightly pubescent basal and stem leaves are divided into 3-ovate leaflets that have 3-5 lobes with entire to serrated margins. The basal leaves have a long petiole and the stem leaves are shorter, otherwise similar to each other. When crushed they have a musky aroma and the leaves die off during summer. (summer dormancy)
Flower: The cyathiform flowers have 6-8 glabrous elliptical tepals that are white and pink flushed from the base and has numerous yellowish stamens. They appear solitary amongst the foliage on a slender greenish pedestal that is up to 300 mm (1 ft) long and appear from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small achene is accompanied by the persistent long plumose style and the small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to keep true to type.
