Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during autumn or spring in containers and plant out when large enough to handle.
Softwood cuttings taken during early summer and placed in a protected environment until roots appear.
Botanic information
Leaf: The soft textured ovate leaves have an acute apex and a short petiole. The base is truncate and the margins are shallow crenate to dentate.
Flower: The bisexual tubulate flowers have a 2-lipped corolla with 5-lobes. The lower lip is spreading and the upper lip is erect with 2-lobes and the flowers have 4-stamens and an exserted 2-lobed style. They arrange a singularly or in a small cluster in the leaveaxilsand appear throughout summer.
Fruit: The 4-smooth nutlets are ovoid to oblong and contain tiny viable seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
