Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Root, basal or tip cuttings taken during spring to early summer and semi-hardwood cuttings taken from summer to late summer.
Division of the clump during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The predominantly basal mid-green leaves are oblong to ovate with lobed margins and a dimpled upper surface. The stem leaves have a short petiole with a cordate base and appear oppositely and sparingly along stems.
Flower: The small 2-lipped tubulate flowers have a 2-lobed upper lip and an elongated 2-Lobed lower lip with a white markings. They are accompanied by pointed purplish bracts and are arranged in a whorled cluster along the stems and terminally above the foliage and appear during summer.
Fruit: The tiny ovoid to oblong smooth 3-angled nutlets are brown to grey and contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
