Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Root, basal or tip cuttings taken during spring to early summer and semi-hardwood cuttings taken from summer to late summer.

Division of the clump during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The wrinkled leathery textured leaves are oblong-elliptical or lanceolate with a short petiole and an obtuse apex. The puckered upper surface is mid-green and the underside is pale green and when crushed are aromatic.

Flower: The dark blue violet 2-lipped tubulate flowers have an upper lip with 2-lobes, up to 8 mm (? in) long and the lower lip up to 5 mm (¥ in) long with exserted stamens and style. They are arranged in 1 to 3 whorled inflorescences that is accompanied by bracts and is held above the foliage on a slender scape that appears throughout summer.

Fruit: The ovoid to oblong smooth 3-angled nutlets are brown to grey and contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
