Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Division of the clump during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured basal leaves are ovate to lanceolate-ovate and the stem leaves have a perfoliate twith a connate base that has a cupped appearance. The apex is acuminate and the margins are serrate.

Flower: The pink to lavender pink tubulate flowers have 5-spreading ovate corolla lobes that form an expanding tube that is flat on the top and bulges underneath. They are arranged in a long terminal panicle that is held above the foliage from early to late spring.

Fruit: The ovoid woody capsule is septicidal and contains numerous irregularly angled tiny seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
