Note
This plant prefers to have the corms deeply set in the soil where they dry out during the dormant period and must be planted in deep pots for container use.
Botanic information
Leaf: The longer linear leaves are strongly keeled on the underside and arranged at the base in groups of 3-4 and wither when the flowers appear.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have a pink perianth with 6-sack-like angles and spreading to drooping lobes are up to 7 mm (¥ in) long. There are 10-30 flowers arranged on a slender pedestal in a terminal umbel that is held above the foliage on a twinning scape and appear during early summer.
Fruit: The almost sessile 3-angled ovoid loculicidal capsule contains numerous sharp angled black seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
