Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Division of the rhizome during spring.
Basal cuttings during spring and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sticky aromatic lobed leaves have 7-deep, obtuse lobes that extend almost to the base and have serrated margins. The petiole is long and the leaves turn slightly reddish during autumn. In cold regions the plant is herbaceous.
Flower: The crateriform flowers have a reddish calyx and 5-ovate white to pink or purplish-pink petals and exserted stamens with yellowish anthers. They are arranged in a terminal cyme that is accompanied by reduced leaves and appear during early summer.
Fruit: The dry capsule is a schizocarp has an abrupt slender point and containing multiple rugose indehiscent carpels. The fruit is accompanied by the persistent sepals and commonly with the coiled styles. The tiny seedsare dispersed by wind and water but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
