Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place outdoors or in a cold frame.
Division of rooted suckers when dormant.

Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves have 7-11 ovate to oblong sessile leaflets with an acuminate to acute apex and are up to 190 mm (7in) long by 60 mm (2? in) wide. The larger terminal leaflet has a short petiolule and the surfaces are covered in tomentose.

Flower: The tree is monoecious and the green male catkins are up to 127mm (5in) long. The catkin-like female flowers are up to 500mm (20in) long appearing soon after the male flowers during spring.

Fruit: The nutlets have a rounded base and a broad conical apex. They have a glaborous or pubescent orbicular to elliptical-rhomboid wing that is up to 30mm (1? in) wide by 25mm (1in) long.
