Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile basal leaves are linear with an obtuse to sub-acute apex and the texture is fleshy. After the flowering period the leaves wither quickly and the plant becomes dormant until the new growth appears during autumn.

Flower: The broad funnelform flowers have 12-19 elliptical to oblong petals that are pink to lavender and occasionally white with 20-50 stamens. They appear singularly on scape up to 30 mm (1? in) tall from early spring to summer.

Fruit: The small egg-shaped capsule opens from top and contains 6-20 glossy dark seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
