Propagation
Seed (often-self sows) sow fresh seeds in containers during mid or late spring and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Division of the clump or root basal cuttings during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves linear to oblanceolate with coarsely ciliate to entire margins and have an obtuse apex.
Flower: The radiate flower have 15-35 ray florets that are normally blue to purplish and sometimes white and the disk florets are yellow. They are held above the foliage on a pubescence stem and appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The tiny caryopsis has 2-6 ribs and the 20-30 pappus are bristly. The seeds are dispersed by wind and may germinate readily but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
