Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Division of the rhizome during spring.
Basal cuttings during spring and apply bottom heat.
Note:
Under cultivation it prefers at lease 3-hours direct sunlight.
Botanic information
Leaf: The broadly cordate basal leaves have 5-7 lobed each with 3 lobes or deeply toothed and they petiole up to 150 mm (6in) long. The texture is leathery and the apex of the lobes is acute. The stems have up to 5-pairs of smaller leaves and under cold conditions the plant is herbaceous.
Flower: The cyathiform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-pale pink petals with a network of the darker veins and a black centre and stamens. There are 1-4 flowers arranged in an axillary cyme on a short peduncle and appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small dry capsule is a schizocarp containing multiple carpelsand is indehiscent. The fruit is accompanied by the persistent sepals and commonly with the coiled styles. The tiny seedsare dispersed by wind and water and are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
