Propagation
Surface sow fresh seeds when ripe (early spring) in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).

Germination takes from 1 to 3 months. Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle and plant out after all risk of frost has passed.

Division of offsets in early spring and place in a moist sandy media until roots appear.

Note:
Care should be taken when handling the plant as it may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction and the seeds are poisonous if ingested.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are ovate to ovate oblong up to 60 mm wide with an obtuse apex and a cordate base with a petiole of 120 mm long. The mid green upper surface has a crinkly texture and both surfaces are downy. During summer the leaves died back as the plant becomes dormant.

Flower: The salverform flowers have a campanulate calyx and the lilac purple corolla forms a tube up to 12 mm (½ in)long with spreading obovate notched lobes with a white centre. There are 2-15 flowers arranged in a umbel that is held above the foliage on a pubescent scape that is up to 250 mm (9µ in) long and appears from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small sub-globose capsule has 5-10 valves and releases numerous tiny seeds and is accompanied by the persistent calyx. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
