Propagation
Sow fresh seeds and place in a cold frame until germination occurs. Prick out and pot up into a well drained media. When planting out space the seedlings and 38 mm (15 in) apart.
Division of the rhizome from autumn to late winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pubescent basal pinnate leaves have 3-10 pairs of oval leaflets with a reniform terminal leaf that is up to 15 mm (? in) long. The apex is obtuse and the petiole is long. They are arranged in a basal rosette and the smaller stem the leaves have deeply serrated margins but no lobes.
Flower: The orange-red crateriform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-broad ovate petals with numerous yellow stamens. They are arranged in a branched cyme that appears from late spring to summer.
Fruit: The small dense pubescent acene is accompanied by the persistent styles and contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
