Propagation
Sow fresh seed from late winter to early spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and placed on a misting bench.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are elliptical-obovate or obovate up to 35 mm (1? in)wide and with an acute apex and a cuneate base with a reddish petiole that is up to 12 mm (½ in)long.
The margins are serrulate and the upper surface is pilose to glabrous and the underside has tufts of brown pubescence. Leaves are arranged alternately in clusters towards the end of the branchlets and turn orange-yellow to red during autumn before falling.
Flower: The campanulate flower is composed of 5- pointed greenish sepals and 5-pale yellow petals with veins that a dark red that suffused into the petals. It has a pedestal up to 12 mm (½ in)long and there are 5-15 flowers arranged in a pendant axillary corymb-like raceme that appears towards the end of the branches, from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The ellipsoidal capsule is dehiscent and contains several oblong seeds and that may be winged along the margins. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
