Propagation
Sow fresh seeds and place in a cold frame until germination occurs. Prick out and pot up into a well drained media. When planting out space the seedlings and 38 mm (15 in) apart.
Division of the rhizome from autumn to late winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The basal pinnate leaves are composed of 3-10 pairs of oval leaflets with a larger terminal leaf up to 25 mm (1 in) long. They are arranged in a basal rosette and the smaller stem the leaves are 3-lobed with serrated margins.
Flower: The crateriform flowers are composed of 5-sepals and 5-broad petals with numerous stamens and pistils. The flower colours varies from red to orange and bright yellow and are arranged in a terminal cyme appearing in from mid to late spring and sporadically throughout summer.
Fruit: The small dense pubescent achene is accompanied by the persistent styles and contains numerous tiny seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
