Propagation
Stratified seeds for 3-months at 5º C (41ºF) in a moist media and place in a cold frame. Prick out when large to handle into pots and plant out the following year. (Protected during first winter as the seedlings are slow to grow)

Transplanted from balled and burlapped.

Softwood cuttings taken during early summer and place in a protected environment until roots appear. (Cuttings may be difficult to strike)


Botanic information
Leaf: The deeply lobed leaves are ovate to elliptical with a serrated margin and have an obtuse apex. The upper surface is glossy dark green and the underside is covered in grey tomentose. The 1-3 lobes may become leaflet-like on mature leaves and the leaves turn a warm yellow-brown during autumn before falling.

Flower: The yellowish buds open to creamy white showy campanulate flowers that have triangular to ovate sepals with an acute apex. The creamy white petals are oblong up to 6 mm (¥ in) long with an obtuse apex and contains up to 20-stamens. They are arranged in a terminal compound corymb that is up to 120 mm (4µ in) in diameter and appear during late spring.

Fruit: The ellipsoid fleshy berry-like pome is up to 8 mm (? in) wide and are bright red and sparingly dotted with pale lenticels and is persistent on the plant in clusters. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
