Propagation
Sow fresh seed in containers or in situ during autumn or spring. Keep the bed moist but not wet until germination occurs.
Division of the clump during spring and plant out with a spacing of 380 mm (15 in).


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid to dark green ovate leaves are up to 200 mm (7µ in) long with an acuminate apex and a cordate base with a slender petiole. The margins are sharply serrulate and the upper surface has prominent anastomosing venation.

Flower: The fragrant lilac-white rotate flowers are up to 25 mm (1 in) wide with 4-sepals and 4-spreading petals and a long protruding green style. They appear in a raceme that is held above the foliage on a leafy scape that is up 180 mm (7 in) long and appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The translucent greenish pod-like capsule (silicle) is oblong-lanceolate up to 50 mm (2 in) long and is much longer than wide and tapers at both ends. The numerous seeds are revealed by rubbing the pod which removes the skin. This plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
